Pulmonary Hypertension Is More Than an Elevated PA Pressure

Accurate classification requires attention to hemodynamics, right ventricular function, underlying disease, and the clinical context driving pulmonary vascular stress.

Distinguishing pre-capillary from post-capillary disease changes management entirely; treating group 2 disease as group 1 can cause harm.

Right heart catheterization interpreted with attention to wedge pressure, pulmonary vascular resistance, and volume status is central to classification.

Right ventricular function, not pressure alone, is the strongest predictor of outcome.
